AN EXCITING WEEKEND LIES AHEAD FOR HUSQVARNA RACING AT ROUND 3 OF THE NATIONAL MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

The Husqvarna Racing team moves to the 3rd round of the National Motocross Championship in Bloemfontein this Saturday. While Thunder Valley had its challenges for the team, lessons were learned and prep for BORC is being done in the most meticulous way by both riders and technical personnel.

Pro Mini class rider, Neil van der Vyver expressed his excitement, “I can’t wait for the next round in Bloemfontein – it’s one of my favourite tracks and I really want to go for the win!” I’m currently second in the championship but will be closing the gap on the points this weekend.”

With the recent injury and retirement of David Goosen, Michael Docherty takes up the reigns of the MX1 class for Husqvarna Racing and is hoping to have as much fun as possible as he gets back to his roots. He added, “It’s been a while since I’ve raced competitively in South Africa and I’m really looking forward to access myself against the local talent – from what I saw briefly in Pietermaritzburg, it’s going to be exciting!”

New on the Husqvarna Racing team for the MX2 Class, Josh Mlimi is looking equally forward to getting back into the racing scene with the hope of rebuilding his confidence and improving his race intensity. He commented, “It’s been a while since I’ve raced a full season in South Africa, so I’m thrilled to get back into the swing of things and re-establish myself as a rider.”

Davin Cocker also representing in the MX2 class has been nursing a series of recurring and niggling knee injuries. Sadly, a bucket handle tear in his meniscus has prompted an early withdrawal to the 2022 season for a surgical intervention in the hope of a full recovery in time for the 2023 racing season. He will certainly be missed after showing incredible pace at Thunder Valley recently.

Husqvarna Brand Manager and team principle Fred Fensham added – “Its an incredibly exciting weekend for the team as we head down to Bloem – it almost feels like we starting the season all over again with having Michael and Josh on board – we also have Neil who, as in the past, has shown at his young age that he has the heart of a lion and will no doubt be ready to fight his way back to the top!”
