WINGFIELD MOTORS POWER SERIES 9 – CLUBMANS A,B – CLASSIC AND BREAKFAST RUN MOTORCYCLES

Deon Ebel so nearly took a tumble during morning practice, but it proved to be the motivation he needed to take overall victory after some extremely entertaining racing which saw legend Danie “van Killarney” Maritz keeping the youngsters honest aboard his 1985 Suzuki GSXR1100.


Following his heart stopping moment in Turn 5 Deon Ebel rode extremely well to take overall victory aboard his Maui Jim / Ebel Bro’s Racing Honda CBR1000RR but it was the mand in second overall that really impressed. Making his debut at Killarney in 1978 makes Danie “van Killarney” Maritz a true legend of motorcycle racing in the Western Cape and clearly the “old Man” was still more than capable of teaching the youngsters a few tricks.


Deon Ebel beating the veteran by 0.097 seconds on combined times for the two heats! Without a doubt the closest result of the day.


Wayne Arendse taking the 2021 Clubmans championship in third place with his JJ Smith Trust Kawasaki ZX10R.


Reginald Seale once again impressive enroute to fourth place on his CX International / All Moto Yamaha YZF R1. Nasief Smart taking fifth spot on his Yamaha YZF 1000 and the top six completed by Jamie Hall aboard his J Master Cars Yamaha R1.


Danie Maritz winning the Classic category whilst Hilton Redelinghuys unfortunately took a tumble in Turn 2 with his 888 Motorcycles / HM Shifters Kawasaki ZX7R.


Brandon Brambaw won class B on his Yamaha YZF R1 with Douw Coetzee second (KTM 990 Super Duke), Willem Louw (Kawasaki ZX6R) third, Derek Hendricks (Bikers Delight Yamaha R6) fourth, Peter Hill (Hillbilly Racing Yamaha R6) fifth and Garth Livingstone sixth.


Nicho Venter won the Breakfast Run category aboard his Yamaha R1 with Wayne Gresse second aboard his Kawasaki ZX10R and Samkelo Liwani third aboard his Yamaha YZF R6. Wesley Hendricks fourth on a Maxicool Kawasaki ZX10R.
