ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA BRACES FOR FINAL BAR-TO-BAR BATTLE

NATIONAL MOTOCROSS SEASON FINALE

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna is gearing up for the final battle of the season. With championship titles still within their reach, the team will be looking to tap into new gears in the final race for motocross glory. The nail-biting season finale is set to take place at Legends MX on Saturday, a fairly new motocross track in Pretoria renowned for its technical sections and speed.

Having joined the team at start of the year, David Goosen feels more comfortable on his Husqvarna machines than ever as the season comes to a close. With a third place on the leaderboard in MX2 and second place in MX1, the rider is full of confidence as he braces himself for the last battle of the year.

“I’ve had a good lead up to this race and feel so happy with both my motorcycles. I’ve found the setup that suits my riding style perfectly and as the season ends, I’m not tinkering with them at all anymore – I feel completely comfortable. I don’t have a lot of pressure going into this final round, at least not as much as the other riders, so I’m going to use that to my advantage as I give it my all,” said Goosen.

The talent-stacked rider has officially resigned his contract with the prestigious team for the 2022 season. Having gotten the year of ‘firsts’ out of the way, he added: “I’m excited to finish the year off on a positive note, have a good off season, and then come back next year swinging on bikes that I feel comfortable and confident on!”

Teammate Neil van der Vyver is preparing for his greatest battle of the season. A mere five-points separates the rider from the top of the Pro Mini leaderboard, and four-points cushions him from his next closest competitor.

In what will undoubtedly be a spectacular season finale, Van der Vyver will enter a three-way battle with championship rivals Trey Cox and Emmanuel Bako this weekend. He commented, “There’s going to be some tight racing in both heats. I need to go 1-1 to take the championship – it’s going to be a challenge but I’m ready for it!”

As the event approaches, Husqvarna South Africa’s Brand Manager Fred Fensham reveals some exciting news: “In addition to the regular team of David and Neil, we have also included Davin Cocker in MX2 – a rider fresh off his National Cross Country title. Davin has a strong motocross background and the sport is going make him even sharper than ever – he might just surprise a few out there! As for our regular team, we have a ‘never say die’ attitude, so we’ll be very ready to end the season on a high!”
