Team Green chasing SA Cross Country titles in KZN

Kawasaki Racing is chasing no less than four more 2022 Trademore South African Cross Country Motorcycle Championships at the Virginia Trails season finale in KZN on 15 October.

Senior star Kenny Gilbert has already clinched the team’s first 2022 title with yet another win aboard his Pepson Plastics Scottish Cables Motul Kawasaki KX 450 X at the previous round at Porterville in the Western Cape. There are however at least four other men in green ready to add their class titles to Kawasaki’s cart this weekend.

Mike Pentecost only needs one championship point to clinch his second open class OR1 title on the trot aboard his Franchise Co. Tork Craft Kawasaki KX 450 X. Not that he needs it, but KwaZulu Natal native Pentecost will have home soil advantage on his side at Virginia Trails. Needless to say, Michael plans to wrap it up with an overall win at home.

Pentecost will be backed by a strong Green Team in the open class. Pepson Plastics Scottish Cables Motul Kawasaki KX 450 X lad Jaycee Nienaber have shown steady improvement throughout the season, and both are ready to deliver their first national wins. Where better to do that than at the Virginia Trails National Final?

Taki Bogiages is another Kawasaki rider heading to the final race of the season fighting for a championship in the 250cc OR3 class aboard his Pepson Plastics Scottish Cables Motul Kawasaki KX 250 X. He will be joined by teammate Wade Den and up and coming Franchise Co. youngster John Botha, looking for another great result as he chases quarter litre class championship podium on his Franchise Co. Tork Craft KX 250 X.

Masters man Warrick van Schalkwyk is chasing a come from behind title on his Franchise Co. Tork Craft Kawasaki KX 450 X. He heads to KZN just four points away from the Masters’ championship lead despite missing the season opener. At the other end of the scale, Pepson Plastics Kawasaki Motul Racing youngster Jake Pretorius leads the IPC 65cc title race, while 85cc kids, Franchise Co. rider Juandre Vermaak and Pepson lad Jaden Els will be out to impress.

“Kawasaki Racing arrives at Virginia Trails looking to add four more South African championships to the Senior title that Kenny Gilbert has already wrapped up,” Pepson Plastics Kawasaki Motul Racing with Scottish Cables Iain Pepper explained. Franchise Co. Tork Craft Kawasaki counterpart Harry Grobler concluded: “We have enjoyed a great 2022 Cross Country Racing season, now all we need to do is tie up a few more championship strings!”
