As the countdown to the 2026 Goiás FIM Intercontinental Games continues, we meet 25-year-old Dominic John Doyle, who will represent South Africa as part of the FIM Africa Supersport Team in Brazil.
Dominic started racing motocross at the age of five before moving into road racing through the NSF100 Cup. Motorcycle racing has also been part of his family, with his father racing and owning motorcycles.
For Dominic, racing is about the constant process of finding time on track and improving as a rider.
“The process of finding time and bettering myself as a rider.”
When he found out he had been selected for the FIM Africa team, Dominic was excited about the opportunity to represent the continent where he was born.
For him, being chosen to represent Africa is:
“An Honor to be chosen to represent Africa.”
In Brazil, Dominic is looking forward to riding the Goiânia circuit and being part of the African team. His preparation includes hard work in the gym, physical therapy for a neck injury sustained during his season, as well as getting laps on an R7 to prepare for the Games.
One of Dominic’s strengths is his ability to analyse what is happening on track and find ways to gain more time. He is currently working on his braking and achieving greater control with both the brake lever and rear brake pedal.
His father has been the biggest influence on his racing career, introducing him to motorcycles at a young age and helping put him in the right positions to develop as a rider.
Injuries have been one of the biggest challenges of Dominic’s career, particularly the process of recovering and returning to full fitness. One of his proudest moments came when he won his first MotoAmerica Twins Cup race at Road Atlanta.
At the Intercontinental Games, Dominic’s goal is to put himself in the best possible position to contribute to the team.
“To put myself in the best position possible to benefit the team.”
He is also looking forward to racing alongside riders from other African countries, seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones.
Away from racing, Dominic enjoys the outdoors, including hiking, exploring and visiting beautiful places. His favourite circuit is Laguna Seca, his dream motorcycle is an Attack Performance Yamaha R1, and he describes his racing style in one word: “Attacking.”
