GET TO KNOW YOUR SSP300 RIDER | MAHMOUD AHMED MAHMOUD SAID

As the countdown to the 2026 FIM Intercontinental Games continues, we meet Mahmoud Ahmed Mahmoud Said, who will represent Egypt as part of the FIM Africa Supersport 300 Team in Brazil.

At just 17 years old, Mahmoud’s motorcycle journey started when he was five, riding a small pit bike in a parking lot in Qatar. He later moved onto a PW50 and continued developing his riding, with his first bike coming after he promised his father that he could ride a bicycle without training wheels.

Mahmoud says his love for racing comes from the pressure, competition and speed, as well as the feeling of making his family proud.

“I love the feeling of adrenaline and the pressure, and I’m a very competitive man.”

When he found out he had been selected for the FIM Africa team, Mahmoud said he was initially in shock at the opportunity to represent not only Egypt, but the entire continent.

“It’s a pleasure being able to not only represent your country but your whole continent.”

For Mahmoud, representing Africa means showing what riders from the continent are capable of and bringing greater attention to the talent across Africa.

In Brazil, he is looking forward to meeting new people, gaining experience and learning from the event. His preparation has included closely managing his diet, working towards a new body-weight goal and focusing on areas of his riding that he wants to improve.

Mahmoud identifies his braking and tactical approach as strengths, while he is working on improving his corner speed, particularly on larger international circuits with lower-powered bikes.

His father has been a major influence throughout his racing career, from watching him ride to attending races and pushing him during training. One of Mahmoud’s biggest challenges has been moving from smaller bikes to larger 17-inch-wheel motorcycles, something he overcame through track time and mental preparation.

One of his proudest moments came after starting a race from the back of the grid and fighting his way to the podium, despite having suffered a high-side and minor concussion during the previous day’s qualifying.

At the FIM Intercontinental Games, Mahmoud wants to support his continent, help push FIM Africa towards the top step and give his best in every session. He also sees the opportunity to race alongside riders from other African countries as a chance to bring different experiences together under one team.

“We all come from different places and have our own experiences, but we’re still from the same continent and share the passion for racing.”

Away from racing, Mahmoud enjoys cycling and kickboxing. His favourite circuit is Lusail International Circuit, his dream motorcycle is the BMW M1000RR, and he describes his racing style in one word: “Aggressive.”
