The second day of the Motocross Championship took place on November 16, 2025 at Lac Rose (QG), in an emotionally charged atmosphere. Dedicated to the memory of Alain Verpoest, former race director and technical director of the club, the day paid a vibrant tribute to the one who worked so hard for the development of Senegalese motocross. Between sports performances, spectacular falls and moments of contemplation, this event will have marked the riders as well as the spectators.

Solid performance in all categories

The Junior category offered a rhythmic and contested race with an Imperial Cheikh Soumaré.

2nd : Ethan Lopez
3rd : Saere Diop

Sheikh Soumaré confirms his rise in power and wins with mastery. Ethan Lopez and Saere Diop complete the podium after a fight that is both clean and engaged.

Despite a more limited number of participants than usual, the Open delivered beautiful piloting sequences.

2nd : Moussa Arzouni
3rd : Saliou Dème

Serigne Mbacké Mar confirms his status as a favorite by mastering the race from beginning to end. Behind him, Moussa Arzouni delivered a good performance despite a fall without gravity, managing to keep his second place. Saliou Dème completes the podium with regularity.

Among the youngest (Minime), the day highlighted a very promising trio including one that imposes his talent

2nd : Babacar Thioune
3rd : ONA Colombo

Louic Mauny confirms his excellent start to the season thanks to a smooth and controlled race. Babacar Thioune and ONA Colombo fought to the end to stay in the rhythm.
Highlights of race: falls and abandonments

If the day was beautiful, it was also marked by several incidents:

Idy Ba, who fell early in the first inning, had to give up. he hurt his shoulder, he could not resume the competition.
Karim Arzouni, who fell in the second round, suffered from wrist pain. He was also forced to leave the test.
Moussa Arzouni, despite a fall, was able to start again and finish in a solid second place in his category.
Issa, also fallen, was able to resume the race without serious consequence.

These incidents remind us how motocross remains a demanding sport where the least error can be costly.

The Alain Verpoest Trophy: a symbolic victory for Issa Bequet

The highlight of the day was the presentation of the Alain Verpoest Trophy, symbol of the legacy left by this passionate man. The trophy was won by Issa Bequet, a 125-Open rider, the favorite category of the late Alain Verpoest.

A successful tribute and a season that promises to be promising

Between emotion, sport and recollection, this second round at Lac Rose will remain in the memories.

Despite some falls and abandonments, the organisation has achieved a beautiful day of tribute, faithful to the spirit of sharing and passion of Alain Verpoest.

The rest of the championship promises to be exciting, with riders determined to write their own story… while perpetuating the legend of those who built this sport in Senegal.

The Grand Prix Sénégal Moto Verte, the opening round of the Senegal National Motocross Championship, came to life on Sunday, 19 October 2025, at the legendary Lac Rose. From 08:30 AM sharp, the engines thundered, the sand flew, and the energy was electric as fans gathered for a full-throttle Sunday on one of Senegal’s most iconic circuits.

Organised by the Senegalese Federation of Motorcycling, this first round took place on the mythical Rose Lake beach circuit towards the sea, offering an intense spectacle and a spectacular seasonal debut under a blazing sun and over the soft, sandy terrain typical of the site.

Amid the deep growl of machines and swirling clouds of sand, riders and enthusiasts came together to kick off a new season of high-octane racing, bringing together the best riders from across the country to contest the Minime, Junior, and Open classes.

Among the youngest, Loïc Mauny dominated the Minime category with a display of remarkable control and consistency. He was followed by Babacar Thioune, who secured a solid second place, and Paul Denoyelle, who completed the podium with an impressive effort.

In the Junior category, the competition was fierce, culminating in a thrilling head-to-head battle between Ethan Lopez and Cheikh Soumaré. The two riders crossed the finish line ex æquo, sharing the top step of the podium. It was a rare but telling outcome that highlights the depth of talent in this season’s field.

In the Open class, the elite division, Serigne Mbacké Mare delivered a commanding ride to take victory, combining consistent pace with technical precision on the sand. Moussa Arzouni finished second after an equally spirited run, while Saliou Deme rounded out the podium with a gritty comeback after early difficulties.

This opening event sets the tone for what promises to be an exhilarating championship season, a perfect mix of rising stars and experienced veterans ready to push the limits. GRAND PRIX SÉNÉGAL MOTO VERTE – PREMIÈRE MANCHE DU CHAMPIONNAT NATIONAL DE MOTOCROSS DU SÉNÉGAL

Le Grand Prix Sénégal Moto Verte, première manche du Championnat National de Motocross du Sénégal, a pris vie le dimanche 19 octobre 2025 sur le légendaire site du Lac Rose. Dès 8h30 précises, les moteurs ont rugi, le sable s’est envolé et l’ambiance était électrisante alors que les fans se rassemblaient pour une journée à plein régime sur l’un des circuits les plus emblématiques du Sénégal.

Organisée par la Fédération Sénégalaise de Motocyclisme, cette première manche s’est déroulée sur le mythique circuit de la plage du Lac Rose, en direction de la mer, offrant un spectacle intense et un début de saison spectaculaire sous un soleil de plomb et sur le sable doux typique du site.

Au milieu du grondement profond des machines et des nuages de sable tourbillonnants, pilotes et passionnés se sont réunis pour lancer une nouvelle saison de courses à haute intensité, réunissant les meilleurs pilotes du pays dans les catégories Minime, Junior et Open.

Chez les plus jeunes, Loïc Mauny a dominé la catégorie Minime avec une démonstration remarquable de maîtrise et de régularité. Il a été suivi de Babacar Thioune, solide deuxième, et de Paul Denoyelle, qui a complété le podium grâce à un bel effort.

Dans la catégorie Junior, la compétition a été féroce, culminant avec un duel palpitant entre Ethan Lopez et Cheikh Soumaré. Les deux pilotes ont franchi la ligne d’arrivée ex æquo, partageant la plus haute marche du podium. Un résultat rare, mais révélateur du niveau de talent présent cette saison.
