After a relaunch 2022 season, the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship is back in 2023 with 7 events!
Reigning World Champion Billy BOLT (GBR – Husqvarna) will put his crown back into play on 10 December at Tauron Arena in Krakow (Poland). We will also have renowned host venues in Germany (SachsenArena) and Hungary (Papp Laszlo Sportarena) while discovering new destinations such as Nice (France). For the second consecutive year, the Pais Arena in Jerusalem (Israel) will be part of the calendar. Note that the Junior category will be present at 6 Grand Prix.

The FIM and Infront Moto Racing are delighted to share the provisional 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship calendar featuring some new and exciting locations!
21 events are planned in 2023, including the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations which is set to take place in Ernée, France, on 22nd October. Additional events, such as the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship will head to Romania on the 9th July, while the MXoEN will be held on 8th October with a TBA venue.
The FIM Motocross World Championship is set to kick off on the 12th March at the MXGP of Patagonia Argentina in the stunning Villa la Angostura, followed by two events in locations to be confirmed on the 26th March and then 8th and 10th April.
Grand Prix are set to take place in Trentino, Portugal and Spain, before MXGP will return to Villars sous Ecot for the MXGP of France. Then MXGP of Latvia and the Liqui Moly MXGP of Germany are scheduled in early June and will round out the first half of the season in Europe before the trip to Asia for the Indonesian double header in Sumbawa and a new location Lombok.
Czech Republic, Flanders (Belgium), Finland and Sweden will see the action return to Europe, before we see the much-anticipated return of the MXGP of the Netherlands at a track that is not new for the MXGP Paddock as the Dutch GP will be held at the popular Arnhem on the 20th August!
And to finish off the season, Turkiye will once again host MXGP in Afyonkarahisar before the series will make its very first trip to a brand-new venue in Thanh Hoa for the MXGP of Vietnam. A TBA event will follow in early October before the Championship is set to conclude at the MXGP of Great Britain in Matterley Basin for the 2023 Grand Finale.
Infront Moto Racing is delighted to see the series grow and travel to new venues as well as see the return of old favourites and would like to thank the FIM, FIM-Europe, the organisers and Federations along with teams, partners and all stakeholders for their cooperation to complete this MXGP calendar that will see 20 rounds of the FIM Motocross World Championship in 2023.
Statement from the Championship following the recently published images regarding an incident that occurred at the 2019 Thai GP involving a dispute between a Moto3 rider and a member of his team, who is seen physically assaulting him:
The video of this incident was widely shared on social media and the actions of the team member in question raised immediate and serious concerns. The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports strongly condemn this behaviour.
Furthermore, it was learned that the person in question continues to work in the paddock and is now employed by a different team, which was unaware of this incident.
The team has decided to terminate the employment of this staff member, who will not be returning to work for them after the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The FIM, alongside IRTA and Dorna Sports, considers this to be the correct decision and fully supports the action taken by the team in terminating this person’s contract.
Abusive behaviour must not and will not be tolerated. All parties will continue to work to make the MotoGP Paddock the safest possible working environment.
For the first time since February 2020 and the sanitary measures resulting from the COVID-pandemic, the entire FIM Board of Directors met face-to-face at the FIM HQ in Mies (Switzerland) on 7 and 8 September 2022.
On this occasion, the Board addressed many topics, in particular the following:
Situation in Ukraine: The Board of Directors reiterated its sympathy and solidarity with all those suffering, as a result of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. After having carefully considered the situation, the Board once again confirmed the decisions taken during its extraordinary meeting on 5 March 2022.
Sport: All disciplines were discussed with a focus on the promotion of the FIM Supercross World Championship and the 4-year renewal of the promotion contract with XIEM for the FIM SuperMoto World Championship. In addition, a reform of the Trial discipline as of 2023 was approved. Decision was made to revise regulations of the SuperMoto of Nations and Junior SuperMoto of Nations related to the awarding of points. Discussions related to the level of sound emissions also took place. Considering the current economic situation, the increase in transportation costs and airfreight, the Board decided to provide a travel indemnity of EUR 3’000 per National Federation (including the Continental Union teams) entering the Motocross of Nations. The sprint races to be introduced at all FIM MotoGP™ World Championship events as of 2023 were also addressed. The phase 2 of the FIM Racing Homologation Programme for helmets (FRHPhe-02) was presented to the Board.
Finance: The Board agreed on a draft 2023 budget as well as changes in calendar and licence fees which will be presented to the General Assembly for approval. The 2023 direct payments were also agreed upon.
Liaison with National Federations (FMNs)/Continental Unions (CONUs): The Board decided to submit the affiliations of Georgia and Barbados for approval to the 2022 General Assembly. An update on the FMNs/CONUs liaison initiatives and activities was presented as well as the results of the survey about cooperation between the FIM, CONUs and FMNs.
Marketing & Digital: Topics such as new digital and media opportunities (i.e. Web3, non-fungible tokens (NFT), Over-The-Top (OTT) etc.), the branding and sponsoring coverage of the 2022 ISDE edition (“6 Days”), the marketing initiatives launched for the “Ride to FIM Awards – the Future of Motorcycling”, the creation of a dedicated website for the FIM Flat Track World Championship, the launch of the 2nd edition of the “FIM Rides the World” video series as well as an update on the FIM Brand Identity tender were presented.
Commissions: It was reminded to the Board that all Commission Directors’ and Members’ terms of office will expire at the end of this year. The online application platform is now open until 30 September. Commission Directors and Members (with the exception of the LJI Director and Members) will be appointed for 2023-2026 by the Board during its meeting to be held on 3 December in Rimini (Italy).
International Foundation for Motorcycling (IFM): Since the IFM’s creation at the end of 2020, the first ever audited financial statements and management report were approved by the Foundation Board as well as the Swiss supervisory authority for the foundations.
General Assembly and FIM Awards: The Board decided to hold the 2023 FIM Commissions Conference in Lille (France). The options for the venue of the 2023 FIM Awards and General Assembly were discussed and a decision in this regard will be taken shortly.
Amendments to Codes and Regulations: Amendments to the Sporting Code that will subsequently be submitted to the General Assembly were approved, as well as several amendments to the Medical Code.
Awards & Recognition: The Board awarded distinctions as well as several honorary memberships and title of Member of Honour, subject to the approval of the General Assembly.
The CONU Presidents, the Board Committees, the Working Groups and the departments of the Administration presented progress reports on their respective projects.
In addition, the CONU Presidents met on 8 September to share best practices and addressed topics such as the harmonisation of codes and general structure, the cooperation between the FIM and the CONUs, the sporting calendars, education & training as well as communication.
FIM Reaffirms the FIM World Supercross Championship as the Sole Sanctioned World Supercross Championship Series.
MIES, SWITZERLAND, August 23, 2022 – In light of recently announced developments in the marketplace, Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the global governing body of motorcycle racing, reaffirms that the FIM World Supercross Championship remains the only supercross world championship series that is recognised and sanctioned by the FIM. Whilst the AMA Motocross and Supercross Championships are successful domestic Championships in their respective own rights, these domestic championships do not combine to score points towards any official FIM sanctioned World Championship as this is entirely contrary to the exclusive rights granted to SX Global as the exclusive sanctioned FIM World Supercross Championship promoter. No other sanctioned world championship exists in the sport of supercross, and no winner of any other competition will be acknowledged as “world champion” by the FIM.
The FIM has selected SX Global as its sole and exclusive world championship partner due in large part to its inclusive global approach, its deep experience in motorsports, and its commitment to creating an elevated supercross experience for riders, teams, fans, brands and broadcast partners.
Reinforcing the position of the World governing body, which is the sole recognised competent authority in motorcycle sport by the International Olympic Committee, FIM President Jorge Viegas stated: “SX Global is the exclusive current right holder for the FIM World Supercross Championship. I look forward to attending the opening round of the 2022 FIM World Supercross Championship in October which will definitely mark the beginning of a thrilling season.”
SX Global’s model for the FIM World Supercross Championship has been designed to promote a diversity of riders, team, and partners to attract and grow fans around the world – underpinned by a global roster of teams and riders and an inclusive, partnership-driven approach of operational and financial advocacy. In total, more than USD$50 million has been designated specifically for team and rider support over the first five (5) years of the FIM World Supercross Championship, ensuring a well-capitalized effort focused on uniting all constituents in pursuit of a global championship and culminating in the crowning of a single, sanctioned world champion.
The opening round of the pilot season of the 2022 FIM World Supercross Championship is set to take place on Saturday 8th October at the iconic Welsh National Stadium, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, as lead up to a full global championship taking place in 2023.
