INFORMATION – FIM ENDURO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AND WORLD CUPS – CALENDAR UPDATE – ENDUROGP OF GERMANY CANCELLED

2021 Calendar, update 27 July. EnduroGP of Germany cancelled

The FIM, together with the German Motorcycle Federation (DMSB) and local organiser, regret to announce that the EnduroGP of Germany, round five of the 2021 Borilli FIM EnduroGP World Championship scheduled to take place in Zschopau, Saxony on October 8/9/10, has been cancelled.

Despite the best efforts of the FIM, DMSB, and the organising club MSC MZ Zschopau, the strict Covid measures put in place by the area’s district administrator and the chief of health department means that it is simply not possible to organise the event.

The FIM Enduro Commission is actively looking for a replacement event and will inform all involved parties of any further revisions to the calendar as soon as it is possible to do so.

The FIM would like to thank all involved in the running of the 2021 Borilli FIM EnduroGP World Championship for their continued hard work, effort, and want to deliver a high-level championship despite the difficulties associated with organising events during the ongoing pandemic.

John Collins, FIM Enduro Commission Director: “It goes without saying that this is hugely disappointing for the 2021 Borilli FIM EnduroGP World Championship and all involved, but as everyone is aware we are still living through unprecedented times. Organising international enduro competitions is challenging at the best of times, but during a pandemic it becomes extremely difficult. We will do all we can to find a replacement event for the 2021 championship and look forward to visiting Zschopau as soon as it is possible to do so.”

SECOND POSITION FOR ODENDAAL IN RACE ONE AND A HEROIC PERFORMANCE IN RACE 2 AFTER A RACE

Round four of the 2021 World Supersport Championship took place last weekend on the legendary Dutch circuit of Assen.

There were only two clear candidates for the win from the start of the weekend, Steven Odendaal (Evan Bros. Racing Team) and his closest championship rival, Dominique Aegerter, with the pair being half a second clear off the rest of the pack in free practice.

Starting from the second position of the grid, the young South African got the hole shot before pulling away together with Aegerter and taking a second position in race 1 after the chequered flag. Whilst the weather looked unpredictable on Sunday morning, the second WorldSSP race was dry in the end and very much resembled race 1 from the outset, with Odendaal and Aegerter able to break away after an initial battle in the first laps and with only Philipp Oettl able to stay with them in the opening stages of the race. Getting held up in a battle with Jules Cluzel at the beginning, the Evan Bros. Racing Team rider was in the process of closing a small gap on the leading duo when he made a mistake and crashed out. He was able to re-join in 20th position and, setting the same lap times as Aegerter in the front, finish the race in 13th position.

Steven Odendaal (2nd, 13th): “The first race went really well. We gambled a bit with the tyre choice and decided to go with the harder compound, whereas Aegerter had the softer. I think that’s the reason why he had a small advantage at the end because I did not have enough grip in the final laps to pass him. We decided to use the softer tyre in the second race but I made a mistake. Luckily my crash was small and I was still able to salvage a couple of points but it was very disappointing seeing that I was the only person on track doing the same lap times as Aegerter at the end and I was not able to challenge him for the win. We will be back stronger in Most and fight for the win again. Thanks to my team, sponsors and everyone who’s been supporting me this year. The championship is still wide open with 16 races left, we are sitting comfortably in second position in the standings and we only have one objective going forward.”

50th Trout Rally Zimbabwe (1-3 October 2021)

Hi All,

Sorry this has taken a while to get out to you, but with trying to get answers, costings etc, it hasn’t been easy and takes a while!!

We are all hoping that we can go ahead with the 50th Trout as scheduled, but who knows with the way the world is so topsy turvy. We have just over 2 months to go, so fingers crossed some form of normalcy can return soon.

Montclair rooms, at the moment, are fully provisionally booked. I do have a waiting list. If you have provisionally booked a room, note that FULL payment for your room is required before it will be secured. Room payments please to be made by the 25th August 2021 to secure your booking. If you do not require your room anymore, please let me know, so I can offer it to the next person on the list!

** Please note that almost half the rooms are booked by International riders. Those internationals that have booked rooms, I know it will be hard to arrange payment, we have no idea about travel and border crossing, so this will be tough. I fully understand this. If you can at least just let me know if you are definitely going to try get here, I will hold your room for a little longer, unless you may have someone here who could maybe sort something for you.

There is a lot of camping space available for those who wouldn’t mind camping.

We are also holding an off-road ride on the Saturday morning, so if you’re interested in doing that, please get hold of Lloyd Meakin (his number is on the entry form). Please also indicate on the entry form if you are interested in doing this!

In all honesty, this is all not normal to work with and plan!! If by some chance we go into heavier restrictions with regard to COVID, we may need to postpone the dates. In that case, we can either hold your payments and bookings, or refund. Lets all hope we get the opposite and things open up!!

Will keep in touch, but for now, keep safe, keep warm and keep positive!

Thanks and regards,
Shelley
